ORANGE CITY, Iowa -- Olya Furmanova (Minsk, Belarus) has signed her letter of intent to continue her tennis career at Northwestern College.
Furmanova is rated as a top 20 player in Belarus but was unable to compete in her most recent season due to the pandemic.
"We are so excited to bring Olya all the way from Belarus to play some NWC women's tennis," stated Head Coach
Jamie De Jong. "Olya will bring us many years of training and competitive experience. I am confident that she will elevate us in the right direction."
Furmanova plans to study Nursing at Northwestern. She actively participated in scientific competitions among other school in Minsk, receiving outstanding results in chemistry, biology, and English. Furmanova is the daughter of Igor and Irina.
"I believe the nursing curriculum, tennis athletic program and inclusive community at Northwestern College will provide me with a great experience and help me identify and succeed in my future career," noted Furmanova. "I am looking forward to this new and exciting journey where I will grow personally and professionally on and off the court."
