ORANGE CITY, Iowa – A tough-hard fought match went the way of the (RV) Jamestown Jimmies (10-0, 5-0 GPAC) as they defeated the Northwestern College women's soccer team (4-7-1, 1-4-1 GPAC) 3-0 Saturday afternoon.
The Raiders came in to the match down a few players and were up against an undefeated Jamestown squad which made for a tough matchup. The Raiders battled the very physical Jimmie team and were able to create some chances throughout the match.
The Jamestown offense struck quickly with a goal in the 4
th minute by Kamry Fiscus who was assisted by Briana Perry. The Jimmie offense continued to put pressure on the Raider back line and found the back of the net again with a 14
th minute goal by Cassandra Diaz, the Jimmies top goal scorer on the season. The Raiders would create some chances but could not quite break through the back line of the Jimmie defense. The first half would close with a 2-0 Jamestown lead.
The Raider offense was able to create some early chances to open up the second half but to no avail. The Jamestown defense continued to be physical and not allow the Raider offense to gain any momentum. Both teams continued to try and find their second half rhythm but neither team was able to put the finishing touches on an attack. The Raiders defense continued to fight and hold their line but an 89
th minute goal by Peyton Rudnick finished off the scoring for the day at 3-0.
The Raider goalkeepers split time in the net again today with
Kaelin Alons (Jr., Orange City, Iowa/Unity Christian) and
Abby Bastian (So., Brandon, S.D./Brandon Valley) each playing one half. Alons was able to make four saves in the first half and Bastian was able to make three of her own. The Raider offense was able to get three shots on-goal for the game, but the Jimmie attack created 10 on-goal attempts.
