Foscalina Nets Game-Winner in Double Overtime

Raiders improve to 2-0 on the year

Jake Foscalina scored with less than three minutes left in double overtime to give Northwestern a 1-0 win over Dordt in a non-conference match played this afternoon in Sioux Center, Iowa. The Raiders stay unbeaten, improving to 2-0, while the Defenders slip to 0-2.

With time running down and a free kick for the Raiders, Matt Roll sent one over the top and into the penalty area where Foscalina headed it past the Defenders keeper for the game-winner.

Northwestern outshot the hosts 18-7, including a 7-3 advantage in shots on frame. Philippe Patri led the way with a pair of shots on goal while five other Raiders had one each.

Ezekiel Foltz recorded his second consecutive shutout, stopping all three shots on goal by Dordt. Three different Defenders had one shot on frame.

Head Coach Dan Swier's squad will return to the field on Wednesday, Sept. 16 against Waldorf in Forest City, Iowa.
