Game Time...The Northwestern College women's soccer team will make its much anticipated 2020 season debut against Briar Cliff in a non-conference match Friday night, Sept. 11 in Orange City, Iowa. The match is scheduled to begin at 7pm. Briar Cliff will also be making its season debut.

All-Time...Northwestern is 9-17-1 all-time against Briar Cliff in a rivaly that began in 1995, the first season of women's soccer at NWC. The Raiders have dropped three straight and are 5-5 in their last 10 matches against BCU. Last year, Northwestern lost 2-1 in a late season match-up played in Sioux City on Oct. 16.

The Chargers are coming off back-to-back fifth place finishes in the 2018 and 2019 Great Plains Athletic Conference regular season, going 7-5 in league play last year. They lost to Midland in the conference semifinals (2-0), a loss that ended their 2019 campaign with an 11-8 overall record.Â
Paul Cox begins his third season as the head of the Chargers women's soccer program after being hired in January of 2018. Formerly an assistant at Midland, Cox returns seven starters, 12 players from his 2019 squad.Â

The Raiders tied for seventh place in the 2019 GPAC regular season with a 6-6 record and qualified for the conference tournament for the sixth time in seven seasons under Head Coach
Ben Karnish. They lost to Hastings in the quarterfinals to end the year with a 9-9-1 record.Â
Karnish owns a 65-59-10 overall record in his seven seasons as head coach, owning the most wins and best win percentage in program history. Raider teams have finished among the top five in the GPAC in five of his seven seasons. Karnish returns six starters and 13 letter winners from the 2019 season.
