Scruggs To Play Football At Northwestern

Gage Scruggs (Chula Vista, Calif.) has signed a letter of intent to continue his football career at Northwestern College this fall.

Scruggs is a 5'10", 180-pound linebacker / safety who played four seasons for the Hilltop High School football team. Scruggs accounted for a team-high 91 tackles, eight quarterback sacks and 30 tackles for a loss in leading his team to the state quarterfinals with a 10-2 record. He was named the team's defensive player of the year and earned first team all-league honors for the third straight year. Scruggs plans to major in exercise science at Northwestern and is the son of Steve and Lucy.

"Gage is an outstanding athlete and fierce competitor who will contribute on our defense in many ways," stated Northwestern Head Coach Matt McCarty. "We are excited about his versatility and look forward to coaching him over the next four years."
