Lorenzen To Play Football At Northwestern

Tuesday, March 17, 2020

Gavin Lorenzen (Larchwood, Iowa) has signed a letter of intent to continue his football career at Northwestern College next fall.

Lorenzen is a 5'9", 170-pound defensive back / athlete who completed an outstanding three-year career playing for the West Lyon High School football team. Lorenzen accounted for over 1,000 yards of total offense and scored 15 touchdowns in leading his team to the class 1A state championship with a 12-1 record last fall. He led the Wildcats with 32 catches for 542 yards and 10 receiving touchdowns to go with a team-high 655 return yards (kick / punt) and three scores. Lorenzen earned first team all-state honors as a returner and first team all-district accolades as a specialty player.

"Gavin is a dynamic athlete who is a threat to score every time he touches the football," commented Northwestern Head Coach Matt McCarty. "He is elusive, fast and can positively impact a team in so many ways. Gavin played a huge role in leading West Lyon to the state title last fall and is a proven winner. We are thrilled to have Gavin join the Red Raider football team."

Lorenzen accumulated 34.5 tackles, two interceptions and three forced fumbles on defense last fall. A first team Academic All-State pick as a senior, Lorenzen plans to major in Exercise Science at Northwestern. He is the son of Jaden and Heather.
