Northwestern shot 67% to jump out to a 15-point halftime lead and held off a late Doane rally to defeat the Tigers 83-73 this afternoon at the Bultman Center. 

The Red Raiders sweep the season series and earn their third straight win, improving to 10-6 in the GPAC, 18-8 overall. They currently hold down third place in the conference standings, one game in back of Dakota Wesleyan and one half game up on Dordt. 

Grant Rohrer led Northwestern with 21 points, 12 coming in the first half, going 10-for-15 from the field. Keegan Van Egdom matched his career-best with 16 points and both Trent Hilbrands and Jay Small also scored 16 points each. Small pulled down 10 rebounds for his team-leading fifth double-double. 

A couple of free throws by Tigers forward Miguel Lopez to open the game put the visitors up for the only time as Northwestern followed with a 10-2 run, finished off with a Hilbrands three-pointer, to take a 10-4 lead. Rohrer sparked another Northwestern surge, scoring eight points during an 11-5 run, to put his team in front 23-11 at the halfway point of the first half. 

The teams traded baskets over the next seven minutes until Northwestern went on an 8-3 run and grab its largest lead to date, 44-27, just before the half. 

With Northwestern in front by 19 (66-47), Doane used a 10-0 run to trim the lead down to nine, 66-57, with under five minutes to play. Northwestern sealed the win with clutch free throw shooting, making 9-11 over the last four minutes.

The Red Raiders shot 60% for the game, 67% in the opening half, and 44% (10/23) from the three-point line. Coach Kris Korver's squad held the edge on the glass, 34-30, led by by Small with 10.

Anthony Laravie scored a game-high 23 points, making 4-of-11 three-pointers, to lead Doane. Zach Witters (14) and Miguel Lopez (13 points, 12 rebounds) were the other top players for the Tigers.
