Game Time...The Northwestern College women's basketball team continues its season with a mid-week GPAC match-up against unbeaten Briar Cliff. Tip-off Wednesday night at the Newman Flanagan Center is scheduled for 6pm. Northwestern is 0-3 in the GPAC, 0-6 overall; Briar Cliff is 4-0 in the conference, 6-0 overall.

All-Time...Northwestern holds a 57-35 lead in the all-time series against Briar Cliff, going 7-3 in the last 10 contests against their GPAC rival. Last year, the teams split, each winning on the road; Northwestern defeated the Chargers 75-56 in Sioux City, Briar Cliff won the second game in Orange City, 77-67.

The Chargers are one of two teams still unbeaten in GPAC play (Morningside), owning a perfect 4-0 record in the confernce, 6-0 overall. They defeated Dordt on the road last time out, 79-69, on Tuesday, Nov. 24, prior to the Thanksgiving break. BCU has also defeated Dakota Wesleyan, Mount Marty and College of Saint Mary within the GPAC.

Hired in the spring of 2020, Hand is in her first season as the Chargers head coach after a stint as an assistant with William Penn. She also has served as an assistant within the Truman State and Illinois College programs. She inherited a BCU squad that returns three starters, six players, that finished tied with Midland for eighth in the GPAC at 8-14, 11-19 overall, last year.

The Raiders had an unexpected layoff from competition as last week's Morningside game was called off late due to CoVID issues with the Mustangs. Northwestern has not played since an 80-74 home loss to Midland on Nov.21.
