Hurley Nets Second Half Goal, Raiders Fall To Morningside

Northwestern has three home games left this season

Emily Hurley scored off a penalty kick late in the second half but the rally fell short as Northwestern lost to Morningside 2-1 in a GPAC match played tonight in Sioux City, Iowa.

The Raiders move to 3-6 in the GPAC, 3-6-1 overall, with three home matches left to play in the regular season.

Scoreless at the half, Morningside went up 2-0 with goals scored just eight minutes apart. Oceanna Brenden netted the first goal from an assist by Jill Hellerforth during the 60th minute. Makenzie Homan gave the Mustangs an important insurance goal during the 68th minute.

Putting pressure on the Mustangs defenders, Northwestern was fouled inside the box, leading to the converted penalty kick by Hurley during the 81st minute.

Kaelin Alons totaled five saves in goal for the Raiders.
