The Raiders (3-3-1, 0-1 GPAC) could not overcome a second half goal in a 1-0 loss Saturday afternoon at Concordia University (2-6, 2-0 GPAC).
The Bulldogs and Raiders played in a physical contest from the beginning whistle as both teams battled strong for 50/50 balls in the air and on the ground.
The frenzied first half would come to an end with a 0-0 score line as both teams would get off 3 shots.
The second half saw the pace and physicality increase as the half would see 3 yellow cards and a straight red card.
The pace and physicality lead to a lot of free kicks for both teams and the Bulldogs would get one in the 55
th minute and Victoria Cera would hit a long ball into the Raider box where
Liz Foster would be challenged while trying to claim the cross. The ball would bounce loose and Jaiden Beecher would loft in the rebound into the back of the Raider net.
The Raiders would continue to hunt for the tying goal and their best chance came in the closing minutes with
Emily Hurley in on goal but Lindsey Carley would make a great save to preserve the shutout for the Bulldogs.
The Raiders will continue conference play next Saturday, September 28
th at home against Doane University. Kickoff will be at 5pm.
