The Raiders (1-0) will host Florida National University (2-0) in a non-conference matchup Friday night at the NWC Soccer Complex. Kickoff is slated for 7pm.
Northwestern started off the season with a big 5-0 win over Viterbo University (Wis.) on August 20 and saw four different Raiders put the ball in the back of the net and two players tally assists.
James Warren was credited with the shutout in the match.
The Raiders had ten players earn their first NWC varsity minutes in the match against Viterbo as they continue to reload from a year where they lost nine seniors to graduation.
"We as a staff feel good about how the guys performed against Viterbo," commented head coach
Dan Swier. "Now we are ready to carry that momentum into the match against Florida National. They will be a solid test and we are excited to see how the guys respond to the challenge. We have been making final preparations for what will be a tough span of matches over the next couple of weeks."
Florida National, in its first year as an NAIA member, is coming off wins against the Savannah College of Art and Design and Mount Marty College. The Conquistadors were USCAA (United States Collegiate Athletic Association) National Champions in 2018 going 15-1 en route to lift the trophy. They dominated in the National Championship match winning 8-2 over Paul Quinn College.
