Gubbels To Play Football At Northwestern

Adam Gubbels (Council Bluffs, Iowa) has signed a letter of intent to continue his football career at Northwestern College next fall.

Gubbels is a 5'11" 220-pound offensive / defensive lineman who played four years for the St. Albert High School football team. Gubbels earned both first team all-state and all-conference honors after leading his team to a 5-4 record last season. He ranked second on the team with 50 tackles and accumulated 5.5 quarterback sacks on defense and paved the way for an offense that averaged 5.6 yards per play and scored 25 touchdowns. Gubbels was a Shrine Bowl nominee and was named to the All-Western Iowa team. A member of the honor roll, Gubbels plans to major in Biology at Northwestern. He is the son of Jay and Lisa.

"Adam is a strong, physical football player," said Northwestern Head Coach Matt McCarty. "He had a very good high school career and feel like he is a great fit for our team. We are excited to have Adam be part of the Red Raider football program."
