A.J. Schaefer (
Cedar Grove, Wis.) has signed a letter of intent to continue his football and track and field careers at Northwestern College next fall.
Schaefer is a 5'10", 170-pound kicker and defensive lineman who played five years for the Cedar Grove - Belgium High School football team. Schaefer accounted for 42 tackles and two quarterback sacks in leading his team to the second round of the state playoffs with a 9-2 record. He was awarded all-conference honors as a senior.
"A.J. is a good athlete and we are thrilled to have join our Red Raider football team," commented Head Coach
Matt McCarty. "He will provide competition and depth at our kicker and punter position group."
Named team captain for his senior year, Schaefer is a four-year letter winner in track and field heading into his final season. He has personal bests of 18.05 in the 110m hurdles, 49.24 in the 300m hurdles, 18.7.25 in the long jump and 34'4.5" in the triple jump. Schaefer plans to major in Exercise Science at Northwestern and is the son of Chris and Cheryl.
