Buckmeier To Play Football At Northwestern

Alex Buckmeier (New Richland, Minn.) has signed a letter of intent to continue his football career at Northwestern College next fall.

Buckmeier is a 5'11", 240-pound offensive / defensive lineman who played four years for NRHEG High School. A four-year starter on both sides of the ball, Buckmeier earned first team all-area an all-district honors after leading his team to the state playoffs with a 9-3 record. He was a Minnesota All-Star Football team selection and has named team captain two years. Buckmeier totaled 196.5 tackles and registered seven quarterback sacks during his career. Also a letter winner in both wrestling and track and field, Buckmeier is a member of the honor roll and plans to major in Ag-Business at Northwestern. He is the son of Andy and Jody.

"Alex will provide a strong, physical presence to our defense," commented Northwestern Head Coach Matt McCarty. "He plays with a high motor and loves to compete. We are excited to have Alex join our Red Raider football team."
