Men's Basketball With Road Test Against Briar Cliff

Game Time...A tough road match-up in GPAC play awaits the Northwestern men's basketball team as they make the trip to Sioux City to play Briar Cliff Wednesday night, Dec. 4. Tip-off at the Newman Flanagan Center is scheduled for 8pm. Northwestern has won three straight, seven of its last eight and received votes in the latest edition of the NAIA Coaches poll with an 8-2 record, 2-1 in league play. Briar Cliff has lost three in a row, fell out of the coaches' poll and is 1-3 in the GPAC, 7-3 overall.

All-Time...Northwestern is 61-52 all-time against the Chargers in a rivalry that dates back to the 1967-68 season. The Red Raiders are 2-3 in the last five games against BCU.

After a 7-0 start to the season, Briar Cliff has dropped three straight, all within GPAC play. They have lost to Mount Marty, Dordt and Dakota Wesleyan since defeating Concordia to open GPAC play, 70-69, on Nov. 16. 

Now in his third year as the Chargers head coach and ninth season within the program, Svagera returns two starters and nine players from a 2018-19 team that lost in the national quarterfinals to Marian (Ind.) and finished 22-9. They were picked fifth in the GPAC preseason coaches poll.
