Francken-Small to Join Wrestling in 2020-21

Jakob Francksen-Small (Merrill, Iowa) has signed a letter of intent to continue his wrestling career at Northwestern College in 2020-21.

Francksen-Small is a three year, soon to be four year, letter winner for Le Mars Community High School. He currently holds a 109-33 (Fr.-Jr.) record and has been four year captain. He wrestles at the 160 weight class but will likely move to thr 157 or 165 pound weight class. He is a two-time Le Mars Invite Champion, a Heelan Invite Champion, and was District Champion his junior year. He has been voted two-time MVW (Most Valuable Wrestler), a three year team scholar, and was the leader in most statistical categories over his past three seasons.

"We are stocked to welcome Jake to the team," commented head coach Rik Dahl. "A product of our Team Zapas Wrestling Club we have been blessed to watch Jake develop through the years. A no-nonsense guy, Jake isn't afraid to work hard and is savage in the room. He is exactly the kind of young man we want to build around and feel strongly that he will make an immediate impact on our team and with the culture.

Francksen-Small is a member and president of the National Honor Society and has been a three-year honor roll member. Jake plans to study exercise science while at Northwestern.
