Devyn Kemble scored a career-high 16 points in leading 11th-ranked Northwestern to an 83-70 road win over College of Saint Mary this afternoon in Omaha, Neb. The Red Raiders stay unbeaten, improving to 2-0 in the GPAC, 6-0 overall; College of Saint Mary falls to 0-2 in the GPAC, 1-5 overall.

One of four Red Raiders to score in double figures, Kemble drained four three-pointers and also pulled down five rebounds. Sammy Blum scored 14 points, Taylor VanderVelde netted 12 points and dished out five assists and Alexis Toering just missed a double-double with 10 points, nine rebounds and five steals. 

A 16-6 run in the first quarter put Northwestern in front for good as the Red Raiders led 23-16 by quarters end. VanderVelde knocked down a three-pointer to give Northwestern its first double-digit lead, 28-17, with seven minutes left in the first half. The teams traded baskets over the next four minutes until a couple of Kemble three's put Northwestern in front, 42-30, at the half.

College of Saint Mary outscored the Red Raiders 23-12 over the first seven minutes of the third quarter to make it a one point game, 54-53, after a made three-pointer by Lynsey Curran. Northwestern responded with a 9-2 spurt, led by Bre Schuiteman with four points and finished off with an Emilee Danner three-pointer, to give Head Coach Chris Yaw's team a 63-55 advantage by the end of the third quarter. 

Northwestern put the game away with an 11-2 run at the start of the fourth quarter, getting a pair of three's from Kemble and another from Blum, to push the lead to 17 (74-57). The Flames did not get closer than 11 over the final seven minutes. 

The Red Raiders shot 36% for the game, 40% (12/30) from the three-point line and were efficient (89%) from the free throw line (23/26). Coach Yaw's squad forced 24 turnovers against the Flames.

Curran scored a team-high 15 points, Alyssa Laudato 13 and both Trista Merrival and Clare Lewandowski netted 12 for CSM.
