The Red Raiders (9-8, 6-4 GPAC) went on the road on a cold night in Jamestown, N.D. and beat the University of Jamestown Jimmies (6-8-2, 3-5-2 GPAC), 2-1.
The match started of slow for the Raiders and that slow play lead to a Jamestown goal in the 12th minute. A turnover in the midfield set the Jimmies onto goal and
James Warren made a great initial save but the rebound went to Aaron Pike who put home the rebound.
The Raiders would get even in the 16th minute when Matt Roll would hit to goal of the season for NWC. A long cross would get headed out by the Jamestown back line and Matt Roll would run onto the bouncing ball and hit a beautiful half volley far post, upper 90.
The first half would finish in favor of the Raiders as Jake Askew, the Jimmie keeper, took down
Joshua Wingfield outside the box and get a straight red. The Raiders would take advantage in the last minute of the first half.
Anselmo Kim would score with 53 seconds left in the half. Kim was able to beat the keeper and defenders to the
Joshua Wingfield cross.
"This is a tough trip and I thought the guys handled it well. Matt Roll scored an unreal goal to bring us level. We executed our game plan well in the first half and it culminated with the Anselmo's game-winner."
The win officially put the Raiders in the postseason. They will finish the regular season on Saturday as they host Hastings College.
