Game Recap: Men's Soccer |

Raiders Fall to Chargers, 1-0

The Red Raiders fell to Briar Cliff University Wednesday afternoon 1-0.

Northwestern falls to 7-7 overall and 4-3 in the GPAC while the Chargers improve to 8-4-1 overall and 6-1 in the GPAC.

The Raiders started off under pressure as the Chargers kept NWC under pressure. The pressure would turn into a goal in the 15th minute off a deflected shot that would go past Jason Rosema.

The goal would change the flow of the game as the Chargers would sit behind the ball more and force the Raiders to breakdown large defensive numbers for BCU.

The Raiders struggled to find the frame throughout the game as they did not force a save from BCU while the Chargers only put 4 shots on goal.

The midfield battle kept the Raiders from getting into the final third with space and BCU blocked many shots before they got to the net.

"We played well defensively today," commented head coach Dan Swier. "Briar Cliff matched that defensive intensity and did just enough to win. The goal was unfortunate, as it took a deflection, but that's the way it goes sometimes."

The Raiders host Mount Marty in a week at the NWC Soccer Complex at 7:15pm.
