Trent Hilbrands scored 19 points and Parker Mulder netted 17 in leading Northwestern to an 80-70 home win over Doane in a conference match-up played tonight at the Bultman Center. 

Northwestern picks up its second consecutive win and improves to 4-5 in the GPAC, 10-8 overall. Doane slips to 2-7 in the GPAC, 5-12 overall. 

Hilbrands scored 16 of his team-high 19 points in the first half, making 5-of-7 three-pointers on the night. Mulder contributed 17 points, six rebounds and three assists while Jay Small scored 16, 13 in the final half. Craig Sterk came off the bench to score 11 points in 19 minutes of court time. 

Northwestern scored the first seven points and never trailed against the Tigers. A Hilbrands jumper on the baseline put the Red Raiders up 10 at the 12-minute mark and the hosts led by as many as 12 on three different occasions in the first half. Doane guard Joe Burt knocked down a three-pointer on its final possession to make the halftime score 41-32. 

Doane scored the first basket of the second half, cutting the lead down to seven (41-34) before a 15-6 run put the hosts back in front by double digits at the 14:54 mark (56-40). Northwestern maintained a 10-18 point lead until the final two minutes when Tigers guard Koh Flippin converted a jumper and three free throws to put the score at 77-70. Hilbrands followed with a big three-pointer from the left wing, pushing the lead back up to 10 and ending the scoring. 

Northwestern shot 52% for the game, 46% (13/28) from the three-point line and outrebounded Doane by one (28-27). Small and Mulder pulled down a team-leading six rebounds each.

Nick Kornieck scored a game-high 28 points, dropping in six three-pointers. Flippin added 18, 14 in the final half. The Tigers shot 51% for the game, 46% (10/22) from beyond the arc.
