The Red Raiders dropped their 5th match of the year after a 2-0 loss to Baker University Saturday night. The Raiders were not outmatched but could not find the back of the net when the opportunities presented themselves.Â
Baker got on the board halfway through the first half in the 25th minute on a long distance strike from Victoria Aceves Power that sailed over
Destinee Montenegro's outstretched arms.Â
The Raiders had many chances on the night and were led with shots from
Nikky Farnsworth,
Cherish Shuka, and
Sarah Homan.Â
"We had a lot of great chances on a new keeper and we could not capitalize on their mistakes," commented head coach
Ben Karnish. "We played so well and unfortunately fell short on a night where we could have easily had 3 or 4 goals. Both of the goals we gave up were preventable as well so it is tough to swallow."
Baker scored their second goal in the 84th off a corner kick and some miscommunication that the Wildcats jumped on. Taylor Rogers pounced on the loose ball to seal the win.
The Red Raiders have one final non-conference match at York College Saturday, September 15 at 1pm.Â
