Red Raiders Stay Unbeaten in GPAC Play

The Red Raiders took care of business Saturday afternoon as they beat Doane University 5-0. The Raiders (7-3-1, 3-0-1 GPAC) took a quick lead in the 8th minute after Anselmo Kim put the Raiders up 1-0 after Alex Schussman took a hard shot that ricocheted off the post and went across the face of goal to Kim who tapped home the rebound.

The Raiders would double their lead in the 32nd minute when Jacobo Garcia-Nieto sent a long diagonal ball to the weak side of the field and sprung Breno Fabbri who took the ball into the box and hit a near post shot that kissed the post and into the back of the net.

Northwestern would go into the half with the 2-0 after dominating the half in every way.

The second half started off fast for the Red Raiders as Anselmo Kim beat his defender 1v1 and slotted the ball back to Tyler Limmer who finish the ball to the backside of the goal. The 50th minute goal was Limmer's 8th on the year and Kim's 5th assist.

in the 55th minute, Schussman got his goal of the night after beating a defender 1v1 and cutting in for a shot that beat the keeper.

The Raiders finished off the scoring for the night in the 65th minute. Breno Fabbri earned his brace after Anselmo beat another defender 1v1 and found Fabbri for a smash finish. The goal was very similar to Kim's assist to Limmer in the 50th minute.

Northwestern out shot Doane 23 to 3 and outplayed the Tigers the whole match.

"This match had a very similar feel to our win against Mount Marty earlier this week," commented head coach Dan Swier, "The guys played good, not great, in the first half.   Then we came out in the second half after making some minor adjustments and really took over the game. The guys were clinical in the box and tightened things up defensively. I am extremely happy with the way everyone contributed to earn this victory."

The Raiders take on Briar Cliff Wednesday, October 3 at 7:15pm and look to stay unbeaten in GPAC play.
