Red Raiders Dominate the Lancers

The Red Raiders dominated the Lancers of Mount Marty College  Wednesday 5-1. The Raiders are 6-3-1 overall and 2-0-1 in the GPAC.

The Raiders got off to an early start with a goal in the 11th minute. Tyler Limmer took a hard shot that was deflected by the keeper and Anselmo Kim followed up and headed the ball over the recovering goalkeeper.Limmer's assist puts him at the top of the single season assist record books.

Jacobo Garcia-Nieto hit another wonderful free kick in th 16th minute and it put the Raiders up 2-0. The half would end with the two goal advantage.

The second half started strong again for the Red Raiders as they were controlling possession and pinging the ball around the field. Alex Schussman was a benefactor of this possession as Breno Fabbri found him streaking through the back line and was able to put away the easy finish.

Schussman would return the favor to Fabbri in the 52nd minute when Anselmo Kim sprung Schussman again but he would play the ball across the goal to where Fabbri bashed home the finish.

Joel Callan would get the Lancers on the board in the 54th minute on a good finish after a long ball in from John Heath.

Tyler Limmer would seal the deal in the 59th minute. Anselmo Kim found the ball in the middle of the field and sprung Limmer free and he was able to cut it and hit a shot past the keeper.

"The guys were sharp in the attack tonight," commented head coach Dan Swier. "They moved the ball quickly and created numerous scoring opportunities. Mount Marty played with an incredible effort to keep us from scoring even more. As always, we are happy to earn three more points in GPAC play."

The Raiders travel to Doane Saturday for a 3:30pm kickoff.
