Swier Earns 100th Win in 4-0 Victory Over Jamestown

Head Coach Dan Swier earned his 100th career win Wednesday night with the Red Raider's 4-0 win over the Jimmies from Jamestown.

The Raiders (5-3, 1-0 GPAC) got up early on the Jimmies (1-4-1, 0-1) after Anselmo Kim got through on a breakaway and was taken down by the keeper in the box, earning a penalty kick. Tyler Limmer stepped up and bashed home his team leading 6th goal of the year. The 16th minute goal would be the only score in the first half as both teams settled more into the match.

The second half saw a different Jamestown team come at the Raiders. They were more aggressive in their possession and had more threatening opportunities than the first half. The Raiders held tough and weathered the storm.

Anselmo Kim got a return favor from Tyler Limmer after Limmer battled through a defender off a long ball from Ben Hengst and slipped a touch pass to Kim in the 74th minute. The goal gave some relief to the Raiders and saw Kim increase his season tally to 5 while Limmer earned his 7th assist.

10 minutes later, the Red Raiders added to the rout when Mateus Freitas sprung Felipe Gontijo on a through ball that the keeper made a save on but Gontijo's effort saw the keeper bobble the ball and Gontijo to add his 3rd of the season.

Breno Fabbri would cap off the big night for the Raiders in the 89th minute when the Jimmie keeper was caught far off his line and Fabbri hit a 40 yard ball around him for his 5th of the year.

Matt Scott made 3 saves on the night and earned his 2nd shutout of the year.

"We didn't bring our best today, but the guys found a way to win," commented head coach Dan Swier. "It was a little sloppy and didn't have a good flow to it. That said, the guys were patient and showed a lot of maturity in the second half to stick with the game plan and break the game open late. We had a lot of fun."

Swier's 100th win came in his 11th season at the helm for the Raiders. He is the program's all-time wins leader.

The Raiders will face GPAC foe Concordia University (Neb.) Saturday, Sept. 22 at 5pm.
