Bulten To Run Cross Country, Track at Northwestern

Chase Bulten (Barnum, Iowa) has signed a letter of intent to continue his cross country and track and field careers at Northwestern College next year.

Bulten comes to Northwestern after running for the Iowa Central Community College cross country and track and field teams. Bulten qualified for the National Junior College Athletic Association (NJCAA) track and field championships in the 1000m and earned all-conference honors in the 800 during both the indoor and outdoor seasons. He also finished 29th at the NJCAA Half-Marathon National Championships.

Bulten had a standout four-year career competing for the Manson Northwest Webster cross country, track and wrestling teams. He was a four-time all-conference runner in cross country and qualified for state as a senior. An academic all-region selection, Bulten plans to major in exercise science at Northwestern. Bulten has personal bests of 2:00 in the 800m, 2:35 in the 1000m, 4:14 in the 1500m and 28:25 in the 8K. He is the son of Malaki Bulten and Staci Rial.

"We welcome Chase to our men's cross country and track and field teams," commented Northwestern head coach Scott Bahrke. "His experience and success already at the collegiate level will be an asset to our young squad. We look forward to the impact Chase will have on our program and on our campus community."
