Caroline Van Berkum (Antonito, Colo.) has signed a letter of intent to continue her basketball career at Northwestern College this year.

Van Berkum is a 5'10" forward who lettered three years for Centauri High School. Van Berkum averaged 10.3 points, 7.2 rebounds and one assist in leading her team to a fifth-place finish at state with a 21-3 record. She was named to both the Colorado High School Coaches' Association (CHSCA) and Colorado Coaches of Girls Sports (CCGS) all-state teams and was named the co-player of the year as a senior. Van Berkum earned all-conference honors two years and All-Valley accolades after senior season. Also an outstanding student, she claimed Academic All-State honors and was a member of the National Honor Society. Van Berkum plans to major in math and education at Northwestern and is the daughter of David and Jane.

"We are excited to have Caroline join our women's basketball program and Northwestern College," stated Red Raiders head coach Chris Yaw. "She is a young lady of high-character and strong work ethic who will be a great fit in our program and on campus. Caroline is a strong presence around the basket, a solid rebounder and we look forward to her competitive spirit added to our team."
