JT Engebretson (Le Mars, Iowa) has signed a letter of intent to continue his basketball and track careers at Northwestern College next year.5827

Engebretson is a 5'11" point guard who lettered three years for the Le Mars High School basketball team.  Engebretson earned second-team all-conference honors as a senior while averaging 10 points, three rebounds and four assists per game. Engebretson helped lead the Bulldogs to a 16-7 record while having a near 3:1 assist to turnover ratio.  He also excels in the classroom, where he was selected to the academic-all-conference team and is the valedictorian at Le Mars High School.  Engebretson plans to major in math education here at Northwestern and is the son of Al and Connie.

"JT is coachable, competitive and tough," commented head coach Kris Korver. "He has the ability to break people down off the dribble and get others involved.  He is unselfish and he gets others involved.  JT had an excellent senior season and we are excited to see him grow and improve as a Raider."

Engebretson competed four seasons for the Bulldogs track and field team. As a junior, he was all-conference in the 4x400 and 4x800 relays, and a state qualifier in the 4x200, 4x400 and 4x800 relays. Engebretson has personal bests of 20'10 1/2 in the long jump, 22.9 in the 200m, 50.5 in the 400m and 2:03 in the 800m.

"We are excited to have JT join our Red Raider Track & Field team for the outdoor season," commented head coach Scott Bahrke. "JT is a very talented mid-distance runner and long jumper. He will add needed depth in those two areas for our men's team. JT has a team oriented mind set and will make us better in 2019."
