Raiders Complete Four Game Sweep Of Dakota Wesleyan

Saturday vs. DWU

Game 1- Northwestern College 3 (19-16) (12-5)
               Dakota Wesleyan University 2 (10-20) (6-11)

How It Happened

 - Mitchell Kresnik made the start for Northwestern. Kresnik went six innings allowing six hits, two runs, two walks, and nine strikeouts. Tanner Ortlund pitched a scoreless 7th inning to pick up his sixth save of the season.  With the Raiders trailing 2-1 in the top of the 7th Reed Smith led off the inning with a hit by pitch to put pressure on the Tigers.  Christian Stekl followed with a bunt single. After a Michael Callahan deep fly out and a Matt Martin infield fly which was dropped and allowed Smith to move up to third, Dustin Gaither came up to bat with two outs and two on. Gaither hit a groundball to shortstop who over threw first base allowing both runners to score. Northwestern only had three hits in the game, but turned out to be enough to win. Mitchell Kresnik picks up the win and moves to 6-1 on the season.

Game 2- Northwestern College 12 (20-16) (13-5)
               Dakota Wesleyan University 1 (10-21) (6-12)

How It Happened

- Victor Mena took the hill for game two and went the complete game seven innings allowing seven hits, one run, one walk, and seven strikeouts. The Raider offense got going in this one in the bottom of the first when they scored three runs. Michael Callahan delivered the boom in inning number driving in Reed Smith and Christian Stekl with his three run homerun. Smith joined in on the power display in the second inning with a two run homerun scoring Britton Yoder. Colton Harold did not clear the fence, but he hit a bases clearing double to score Dustin Gaither, Matt Martin, and Michael Callahan. Raiders scored three more runs on errors in this one and pounded out 13 hits. Callahan had three hits. Smith, Stekl, and Harold each had two.
 
 Monday vs. DWU

Game 1- Northwestern College 11 (21-16) (14-5)
               Dakota Wesleyan University 5 (10-22) (6-13)

How It Happened

- Noah McBride started for the Raiders and went five innings allowing two hits, two unearned runs, three walks, and four strikeouts. McBride was relieved by Zac Bridger, Mason O'Donnell, and Mark Primrose who finished out the win for the Raiders on the mound. The power was back for the Raiders as they had homeruns from Matt Martin and Reed Smith. Raiders also received doubles from Dustin Gaither and Colton Harold. Northwestern had 10 hits, two each by Gaither and Martin. McBride improves to 4-2 on the season.

Game 2- Northwestern College 4 (22-16) (15-5)
               Dakota Wesleyan University 3 (10-23) (6-14)

How It Happened

- Raphael DeHoyos was given the task to complete the sweep. DeHoyos was up for the challenge going 6 2/3 innings allowing five hits, three runs, walking two, and recording six strikeout. Tanner Ortlund recorded the final out via strikeout with the tying run on third base picking up his 7th save. At the plate Reed Smith led the charge with three more hits including a double. Mitchell Kresnik hit his first career homerun. Martin and Stekl each had doubles to help power the offense. DeHoyos moves to 5-3 on the season with the win.
