Raiders Start 2-1 in Tucson

Game 1- Northwestern College 10 (3-6)
               Northern State University 4 (2-2)

On The Mound

Noah McBride had the start for the Raiders and completed 5 innings giving up two runs, two earned run, two strikeouts, and five hits allowed.  The Raider bullpen had two great appearances over the last four innings with Alec Rickabaugh going 2 1/3 innings allowing three hits and two runs, while striking out one. Tanner Ortlund picks up the save going the final 1 2/3 innings allowing only one hit and picking up a huge strike out to end the 8th with the tying runner at second base. McBride improves to 2-1 on the season.

At The Plate

Matt Martin got the Raiders going with a two run homerun in the 4th inning.  Martin ended the day with two hits, two runs, and two RBI's.  The star was Tucson native Zachary Rosson who collected a career high four hits, with three RBI's, and one run scored. Christian Stekl also helped the cause collecting two hits.

On The Mound


Victor Mena made the start for Northwestern.  The senior Mena was only able to get through two innings and left with the Raiders trailing 0-8.  Mason O'Donnell, Zachary Rosson, Josh Lucken, and Nick Stimson all tried to hold Carthage offense at bay, but couldn't slow them down enough to allow the Northwestern offense to complete the comeback.

At The Plate

The Raiders fell into an early 0-9 hole and clawed all the way back to 10-13, before falling 10-15.  Michael Callahan led the offense with three hits and three RBI's.  Reed Smith and Christian Stekl each collected two hits and scored three times.  Colton Harold mixed in two hits with three RBI's. Raiders were out hit by Carthage 21-12 in the game.

               Olivet Nazarene University 6 (8-6)

On The Mound


Mitchell Kresnik finished off his 2nd consecutive complete game effort.  Kresnik gave the Raiders an advantage right away by backing up his offense by supplying three straight shutout innings to help support a 10-0 lead after 3 innings.  Kresnik picks up the complete game going 7 innings giving up 11 hits, six runs, five earned, two strikeouts, and only one walk.  Kresnik improves to 2-1 on the season.

At The Plate

The Raiders offense put on a show while racking  up 16 runs on 17 hits. Reed Smith, Colton Harold, Matt Martin, and Christian Stekl each had three hits.  Martin led the way with one of his hits being a loud three run homerun which led to picking up five RBI's on the day. Stekl also hit a two run homerun in the win.  Smith scored four runs to lead the Raiders in the runs category on the day. AJ Nitzschke contributed two hits and two runs as well.
