Kayla Tindall and
Emma Schnell both pitched complete games and
Cheyenne Wilcke hit three home runs in the two games as (RV) Northwestern College swept York (Neb.) in a non-conference doubleheader played today in York, Neb. The Red Raiders eased to a 16-4 win in game one and then defeated York 5-2 in eight innings of game two.
Northwestern has now won four straight and improved to 13-4 overall as they head into the conference opener this weekend against Concordia.

The Red Raiders scored four runs in the top of the first inning and never trailed in game one against the Panthers.
Emily Sones hit a two-run single, scoring both
Madison Beaver and
Amanda Everhart, for a key hit in the inning. Wilcke hit an RBI single as well and the Red Raiders scored the final run off a York error.
Katie Elliott and Beaver led off the second inning with back-to-back singles and came around to score after a York error and a sacrifice fly by Everhart for a 6-0 lead. Northwestern blew the game open with a nine-run, third inning, sending 11 batters to the plate. Sones hit a two-run home run and Wicke added a solo shot as the Red Raiders went back-to-back.
Northwestern totaled 12 hits and took advantage of eight York errors, more than enough offense for
Kayla Tindall, who gave up four hits and one earned run in five innings. She struck out four in improving her record to 5-2 this season.

Game 2: Northwestern 5 York 2 (8 innings)
Schnell allowed 12 hits and two runs in eight full innings and Wilcke hit two home runs in leading the Red Raiders to a 5-2 game two win. Schnell walked one and struck out seven in improving her record to 5-1.
With the game tied at two,
Jessica Sandbulte led off with a double, advanced to third on a wild pitch and scored the go-ahead run on a misplayed grounder hit by Tindall. Wilcke followed with a two-run home run straight over the centerfield fence to put Northwestern up 5-2.
Northwestern scored its first runs in the top of the second when Wilcke led off with a solo home run and pinch runner
Calli Shaw scored from second after an RBI single by Beaver.
The Red Raiders totaled eight hits; York was led by Maricela Romero with three hits. Alysia Rodriguez took the loss, giving up eight hits and five runs in eight innings.
