Red Raiders Push Win Streak To Four With Sweep At York

Kayla Tindall and Emma Schnell both pitched complete games and Cheyenne Wilcke hit three home runs in the two games as (RV) Northwestern College swept York (Neb.) in a non-conference doubleheader played today in York, Neb. The Red Raiders eased to a 16-4 win in game one and then defeated York 5-2 in eight innings of game two.

Northwestern has now won four straight and improved to 13-4 overall as they head into the conference opener this weekend against Concordia.

    Game 1: Northwestern 16       York 4 (5 innings)

The Red Raiders scored four runs in the top of the first inning and never trailed in game one against the Panthers. Wilcke hit an RBI single as well and the Red Raiders scored the final run off a York error.

Katie Elliott and Beaver led off the second inning with back-to-back singles and came around to score after a York error and a sacrifice fly by Everhart for a 6-0 lead. Northwestern blew the game open with a nine-run, third inning, sending 11 batters to the plate. Sones hit a two-run home run and Wicke added a solo shot as the Red Raiders went back-to-back.
