California Goalkeeper Commits to Northwestern

Destinee Montenegro (Paramount, Calif.) has signed a letter of intent to continue her soccer career at Northwestern College beginning next fall.

Montenegro is a 5'6" goalkeeper who had a standout four-year career playing for Valley Christian High School. Montenegro helped lead her team to the state championship in 2017, finishing with a 24-3-3 overall record. Also a letterwinner in cross country, Montenegro plans to major in elementary education at Northwestern. She is the daughter of Hector and Theresa.

"We are really excited about Destinee coming to Northwestern," said Northwestern head coach Ben Karnish. "She is a very good athlete and a skilled goalkeeper who will be a fun player to watch develop at the college level. Destinee fits in very well with our gals and will be a great student in the classroom as well."
