Red Raiders Open Postseason Play Against Concordia

Game Time...No.11 Northwestern College opens postseason play at home against Concordia in a GPAC Quarterfinal contest Wednesday night, Feb. 21. Tip-off at the Bultman Center is scheduled for 8pm. Northwestern finished the regular season tied with Briar Cliff for second place with a 13-5 record and earned the No.3 seed in the eight-team postseason tournament. They are 23-5 overall. Concordia is the sixth seed after finishing sixth during the regular season with an 8-10 record, 17-12 overall.

All-Time...The Red Raiders hold a 49-21 advantage in the all-time series, dating back to the first ever match-up in the 1960-61 season. Northwestern has won four straight against Concordia, including a couple of wins earlier this season.

Prior Match-ups Against Concordia...Northwestern is 2-0 against the Bulldogs this season, earning a 111-103 home win on Dec. 15 and an 83-73 win on Feb.3 in Seward, Neb.

    Concordia University Bulldogs: 8-10 (6th), 17-12 overall            Head Coach: Ben Limback (5th year)

   Concordia lost to Dakota Wesleyan in its regular season finale last weekend, 80-53, in a match-up played Feb. 17 in Seward, Neb. They finished sixth in the GPAC regular season with 8-10 record, 17-12 overall. The Bulldogs have dropped five of their last six games, picking up a 71-56 win over Doane, for their only victory this month.

    Hired in March of 2013, Limback is in his fifth season as the Bulldogs head coach after a successful nine-year stint in the same role at Concordia of Michigan. Limback has guided the Bulldogs to a better record in each of his four previous seasons, including a 21-10 record last year, the most wins since the 2004-05 season. Two starters and nine players return from the 2016-17 squad that finished tied for fifth in the GPAC at 10-8.

Northwestern finished tied with Briar Cliff for second place in the regular season standings after defeating Doane last weekend 86-79. The Red Raiders ended with a 13-5 league record and is the No.3 seed in the eight-team GPAC postseason tournament. They are 23-5 overall and have won six of their last seven games.
