Raiders Drop A Pair

Game 1- Northwestern College 2 (1-2)
               Benedictine College 10 (2-0)

On The Mound

Victor Mena had the start for the Raiders and completed 4 1/3 innings giving up three runs, one earned run, two strikeouts, and five hits allowed.  The Raider bullpen struggled to stop the Benedictine attack as they allowed seven runs over 1 2/3 innings. Zac Bridger came out with 2/3 innings pitch with no runs allowed.  Benedictine starter Kamden Miller pitched well going 5 innings, one runs allowed, five strikeouts, and three walks. Connor Leach came in the 6th inning with bases loaded and nobody out and struck out all three Raiders he faced to end the threat.

At The Plate

Matt Martin went 1 for 2 on the day with a solo homerun that at the time put the Raiders ahead 1-0.  Freshman Ben De Boer led off the 7th inning with a triple in his first collegiate at bat. Mason O'Donnell followed De Boer with a single to drive him in.  Jonah Newman also received a pinch hit opportunity in the 7th which in his first collegiate at bat singled. Leading the way for Benedictine was Matthew Jarecki who went 2-4 with three RBI's and one run scored.

               Viterbo University 3 (1-2)

On The Mound


Mitchell Kresnik made his first career collegiate start.  The senior Kresnik went a 4 innings; allowing four hits, two runs, one hit batsman, and two strikeouts. Tanner Ortlund made his season debut entering in the 5th inning going the final three for the Raiders allowing two hits, one unearned run, while recording one strikeout. Viterbo starter Kyle Gilbertson went complete game 7 innings, allowing three hits, no runs, no walks, and eight strikeouts.

At The Plate

Matt Martin, AJ Nitzschke, and Michael Callahan went 1 for 3 for the Raiders. For Viterbo Brent Stoughtenger went 2-3 with one run scored to lead the way.
