The Red Raiders picked up their first dual win of the year in a 25-16 match over Buena Vista University Tuesday afternoon.

Northwestern started in a tight battle at the 125-pound weight class where Austin Boles snuck out a decision 6-5 to put the Raiders up 3-0. They would never relinquish that lead rattling off five straight wins to start the night

Darian Murphy would earn a major decision 13-5, Cole Mills will earn a decision 12-6, Dante Preciado would earn a decision 7-2, and Blake Pomajzl would win via fall at the 1:49 mark. The 5-win streak would put the Raiders up 19-0.

Carter Behler would lose via major decision 3-13 and Dylan Costello would lose via injury forfeit along with Brady Childers losing via fall at the 1:56 mark. The three loses would make the score 19-16 in favor of the Raiders with two matches to go.

Bennett Sikkink would win via decision in the second to last match to put the Red Raiders up by six with one match remaining.

D'rell Gist would seal the deal for NWC with a gutsy 5-4 win in the 285 class, a big jump for Gist.

Northwestern would have 24 takedowns on the night compared to eight for BVU.

The Red Raiders will travel to Briar Cliff University on November 29 for their first conference dual of the year.
