Red Raiders Earn Fourth Straight Win in Sweep Of Lancers

Lauryn Hilger and Emily Van Ginkel both hit for double figures in leading No.9 Northwestern to a sweep over Mount Marty, 25-17, 25-12, 25-10. The Red Raiders sweep the series against Mount Marty and pick up their fourth straight win, improving to 11-2 in the GPAC, 20-5 overall.

The Red Raiders hit an impressive .387 against the over-matched Lancers, led by the duo of Hilger (14 kills) and Van Ginkel, who slammed a career-best 13 kills in 18 attempts. Both players hit well over .500 for the match. Makenzie Fink added seven kills and Bekah Horstman put down six kills and two solo blocks.

Red Raiders Overcome Slow Start In First Set Win

The host Lancers had an upset on their mind as they scored six of the first seven points and forced Northwestern head coach Kyle Van Den Bosch into a timeout. Still down five (11-6), the Red Raiders began a 10-2 run with a kill and ace serve from Hilger and ended with a block from Van Ginkel to go up 16-13. Mount Marty came back within one moments later and trailed 19-17 before Northwestern scored the final six points for a 25-17 win. Both Hilger and Horstman had two kills and Fink totaled one during the final stretch run.

Dominant Effort At Net Leads To Set Two Win

Northwestern hit 36% and held Mount Marty to 3% in a convincing 25-12 win in set two. An early 12-3 run put Van Den Bosch's squad in control and three nice service runs by Lacey Wacker, Emily Strasser and Fink put the set away.

Red Raiders Lead From Start in Final Set

Northwestern played nearly flawless, committing just one attack error in 27 attempts, in its 25-10 set three win. The Red Raiders never trailed, opening up a 5-1 lead and pushed the lead to 19-5 after a 9-0 run served by Ann Pater
