Men's Basketball Seek Ninth Straight Win

Game Time..10th-ranked Northwestern College looks to extend its win streak to nine as they play host to Hastings College in a GPAC match-up this weekend. Tip-off on Saturday, Jan. 13 is scheduled for 4pm. Northwestern sits alone in second place in the current GPAC standings with a 7-2 record, 17-2 overall. The Broncos are tied with Dordt for seventh place in the conference standings at 3-5, 13-7 overall.

All-Time...Northwestern holds a 33-21 lead in the all-time series but is just 3-7 over the last 10 games against the Broncos. The Red Raiders have won two straight however, including a 78-62 road win earlier this season (Nov. 21).

Last Time vs Hastings...Derek Buysse scored a game-high 21 points in leading No.5 Northwestern College to a 78-62 road win over Hastings in a GPAC match-up Buysse matched his then-career-high with five three-pointers and also went a perfect 6-for-6 from the free throw line en route to his 21-point effort. Colton Kooima (19) and Riley Francis(15) were also in double figures and Nathan Wedel added nine points to go with 11 rebounds. Northwestern went a perfect 18-for-18 from the free throw line.

The Broncos had their four-game win streak snapped last time out, losing to Doane on the road Wednesday night 71-58. Prior to that, Hastings earned wins over Sterling, Tabor, Midland and Dordt. 

Coach Gavers, in his fifth season with the Broncos after a standout coaching career at Grand Island High School, returns four starters and 12 players from a 2016-17 team that finished seventh in the GPAC with an 8-10 record, 14-17 overall.
