The Red Raiders continued their unbeaten conference run with a 6-0 win against Mount Marty College Saturday evening. The scoring starting in the
11th minute when
Cherish Henry combined with
Madi Bertman on a give and go and was able to catch the keeper out off her line with a one-time, left footed shot that looped over the keeper and into the net. The goal was Cherish's 4th of the season. Although the Raiders were dominant in the first half, the score remained the same going into the break.
The second half started off quick for the Raiders as their constant pressure and possession put Mount Marty under and eventually earned a penalty kick in the
50th minute. Sarah
Beaton stepped up and netted her first career goal past a fooled keeper.
The scoring would pile on as the Raiders scored a goal every 5 minutes until the Raiders had 5 goals on the night. Sarah
Homan, Nicole Farnsworth, and
Jessi Carver pushed the lead to 5 where the score stayed until the
87th minute.Â
Megan
Sattler was able to combine down the line and get to the goal line and played a hard ball
across the face of goal. The sprawling keeper could not wrap up the hard ball and it bounced to an energetic Tamra
Wielenga, a senior, who was there to pass in the open rebound. The goal was
Wielenga's first of her career.
The Raiders continue conference play on Wednesday at 5pm when the travel to Mitchell, S.D. for a 5pm kickoff at Dakota Wesleyan University.
