The Red Raiders unleashed 8 goals on the Mount Marty Lancers Saturday in their
GPAC matchup. The Raiders have never lost to Mount Marty and their dominance continued with Tyler
Limmer taking over the night
offensively.Â
Before
Limmer could get rolling, Alex
Schussman opened the night off in the
11th minute for the Raiders on an assistÂ
Isaac Wong. Wong laid the ball off to
Schussman who hit a left footed shot from 22 yards out to the back post and into the net.
Limmer's night got started in the
28th minute off a through ball from
Anselmo Kim and
Limmer was able to get behind the
backline and pass the ball into the back of the net.Â
Schussman would get his brace on the night in the
45th minute with 17 seconds left in the half.
Anselmo Kim was able to get wide to the left of goal and hit a long cross to the opposite side of the box where
Schussman was able to beat 3 defenders on the dribble and rip a shot that screamed past the keeper and ricocheted off a Lancer defender's chest and off the post and into the net.Â
Limmer's strong night picked back up early in the second half when he found himself with the ball and with little pressure on him from about 35 yards out and decided to take a long shot to catch the Mount Marty keeper off guard. He placed the ball perfectly in the top left corner and the Raiders had a 4-0 lead.Â
The hat trick came in the
59th minute when the Raiders earned a free kick right on top the box.
Limmer stepped up and hit a low, hard shot that the keeper could not make a clean save on and saw it go into the back of the net.
Limmer now has 7 goals on the year and leads the Raiders in total points with 16.
The Raiders were able to net three more on the evening as
Cole Cruse,
Breno Fabbri, and
Anselmo Kim were able to net goals in the
68th,
77th, and
81st minutes respectively.Â
Northwestern moves to 6-4-2 and 2-1-0 in
GPACÂ Conference play. The Raiders continue conference play on Wednesday when they travel to Mitchell, S.D. for a night matchup at Dakota
Wesleyan.Â
