The Northwestern men's soccer team fell to 3-3-1 on the season after losing to Bethel College (Ind.) 3-2 today.
The Raiders took an early lead in the 3rd minute when
Tyler Limmer was able to beat two Bethel defenders at half and get in behind to the keeper 1v1. Limmer had to shake a third defender once he got to the box but was able to calmly collect himself and put the ball in the back of the net.
Bethel would tie up the match in the 19th minute when Pedro Patino beat
Matt Scott on a hard hit shot. The Pilots gained the lead in the 36th minute when Tanner Gibson was able to head home a cross from Patino.
The second half started well for the Red Raiders with a few good chances but could not find the back of the net to get the game even. Bethel extended their lead in the 67th minute when Luca Cardamone headed in another long cross by the Pilots past
Matt Scott.
Northwestern was able to get a consolation goal in the 90th minute after a penalty kick was earned.
Tyler Limmer added to his tally as he bashed home the kick from the spot, his third goal of the year.
The Raiders will finish off the Bethel Fall Classic Saturday at 11:00am cst against Grace College (Ind.).
