No.13 Northwestern College went 1-1 on the final day of the Red Raider Classic held today at the Bultman Center. They defeated Waldorf 3-1 (25-7, 23-25, 25-19, 25-11) in the first match but closed with a 3-2 loss to No.9 Corban (Ore.), 25-21, 27-29, 25-23, 23-25 and 18-16. Northwestern finished the weekend with a 3-1 record.Â
vs Waldorf...
Anna Kiel put down a match-high 17 kills in leading the Red Raiders to a four-set win over Waldorf  in this morning's match. Set a total of 23 times, Kiel registered an efficiency of .652 while
Josie Blankespoor hit .636 and was among four Red Raiders with eight kills. Lacy Wacker lofted up 49 assists and
Karsyn Winterfeld totaled 13 digs.Â
Northwestern hit .373 for the match (51/13/102) and had the edge in blocks (8-4).
Kyra Platzek led Waldorf with nine kills and Elisabeth Tramm had 23 assists to go with four digs.
vs No.9 Corban...
The Red Raiders came up just short in their match-up against No.9 Corban, dropping a dramatic fifth set, 18-16. NWC served for the match (16-15) but Corban came back with a sideout and scored the final two points on serve to get the win.Â
Kiel once again led the Red Raiders with 21 kills, hitting an impressive .340 against the talented front line of Corban.
A.J. Horstman put down 17 kills and both
Lauryn Hilger (16) and
Makenzie Fink (13) were also in double figures. Wacker directed the NWC attack to a .234 efficiency and put up 60 assists with 12 digs. Horstman served five of the Red Raiders nine aces.Â
The Warriors' All-American duo of Alaina Gentili and Amber Parker totaled 17 kills each with Parker leading her team with 17 digs. Corban hit .174 for the match.
