Red Raiders Sign California Guard

Jonathan Johnson (Bellflower, Calif.) has signed a letter of intent to continue his basketball career at Northwestern College next fall.

Johnson is a 6'2" point guard who lettered four years for Valley Christian High School. Johnson averaged 12.5 points, six rebounds and 3.5 assists per game in leading his team to the state quarterfinals and a 15-13 overall record. He earned all-area team honors three years and was named to the Press Telegram Dream Team as a senior. Johnson was also a three-time all-conference selection and was voted team captain three years. A member of the National Honor Society, Johnson plans to major in Business Administration and Accounting at Northwestern. He is the son of Wendell and Deborah.

"Johnny is a big, strong guard who has the ability to score the basketball in a variety of ways," said Northwestern head basketball coach Kris Korver. "Johnny has been coached well and has played against excellent high school competition. He is an outstanding student with high character and we are excited to have Johnny join our Red Raider family."
