Red Raiders Fall To Concordia in GPAC Semi's, 88-51

Northwestern College lost to No.2 Concordia 88-51 in the GPAC semifinals played today in Seward, Neb. The Red Raiders slip to 19-11 on the season and will now have to wait for the NAIA  to release the 32-team D-II championship field to see if they earn an at-large bid. 

Kassidy De Jong and Chanda Zomermaand both scored a team-high 11 points and Renee Maneman put in 10 points and dished out six assists. With a field goal in the second quarter, De Jong became the 31st women's basketball player at NW to score 1,000 points and first since Karen (Hutson) Ettleman during the 2014-15 season. 

How It Happened...

Concordia outscored the Red Raiders 13-1 at the start of the game and led from start to finish.

Northwestern trailed by 11 (20-9) by the end of the first quarter; a Renee Maneman jumper put the Red Raiders within seven (30-23) at the 3:27 mark of the second quarter. 

The Bulldogs closed the half with an 8-2 spurt and led 38-25 at the break.

Concordia built up a 20+ point lead by the end of the third quarter and Northwestern did not get any closer than 21 over the final 10 minutes. 

By the Numbers...

Northwestern shot 27% for the game, 21% (4/19) from the three-point line; they were held to 18% in the second half. 

Concordia made 46% of its field goal attempts, 40% (10/25) from the three-point arc.

Northwestern held the edge on the boards, 46-34, including 18 on the offensive glass. 

The Bulldogs match-up zone and pressure defense forced 34 Northwestern turnovers.

Philly Lammers led Concordia with 18 points; Dani Andersen, Brenleigh Daum and Erin Vieselmeyer all scored 12 for the Bulldogs.
