Taylor Vander Velde (Sioux Falls, S.D.) has signed a letter of intent to continue her basketball career at Northwestern College next year.

Vander Velde is a 5'8" guard who is in her fourth season playing for the Washington High School basketball team. Vander Velde averaged five points, six rebounds and two assists as a junior and was the team's top rebounder both her sophomore and junior seasons. She was named to the all-city team as a junior and is a member of the National Honor Society. Vander Velde plans to major in Biology/Health Professions/Pre-Med at Northwestern and is the daughter of Matt and Theresa.

"Taylor is a tough competitor and a hard worker both on the court and in the classroom," said Northwestern head coach Chris Yaw. "Taylor embraces the challenge of defending the opposing team's best player and has a nose for rebounding the basketball from the guard position. She is an aggressive offensive player who has both the ability to attack the basket and catch and shoot. We are excited to have Taylor join Northwestern and our basketball program."
