Northwestern College dropped its season opener to Buena Vista 5-4 in a match played today in Orange City, Iowa. 

Zoe Holscher, Jackie Ingram and Kendra McGinnis all won their respective singles matches in straight sets against the Beavers. Holscher picked up a 6-2, 6-3 win over Lani Brown in the top singles spot while McGinnis (6-0, 6-3) and Ingram (6-2, 6-3) won matches at No.2 and No.3 singles. 

Holscher and Ingram combined for the lone win in doubles play, defeating Brown and Rachel West 8-2 in the top spot. 

Northwestern (0-1) will not play until Feb. 3 against both Bethel (Minn.) and Bethany Lutheran (Minn.).
