The Raiders lost their first GPAC Conference game of the year Tuesday after being beat 4-0 against Dordt College. The Raiders, now 8-3-3 overall and 3-1-2 in conference, were not able to overcome an early push by the Defenders and the 3-0 halftime lead was an uphill climb.
The first goal came in the 10th minute when Natalie Sakuma was able to get into a 1v1 situation with a defender and was able to turn and hit a far post shot that flew past
Naomi Schimmel.
The second goal came only one minute later when Tori Mann snuck behind the Red Raider defense and was able to hit a shot that found its way into the near post.
The third goal came in the 37th minute when Dallas Parker was able to capitalize on a poor Red Raider clearance and hit a long range shot that caught everyone off guard.
The Red Raiders did have multiple chances throughout the game though and were not able to capitalize on those chances mostly putting their shots over the goal.
The consolation goal for the Defenders came in the 88th minute when Kenzie Bousema capitalized on the lose ball in the Red Raider box and bashed home the short range effort.
Northwestern returns to action Saturday, October 14 at 1pm when they head to Omaha to play College of Saint Mary.
