No. 4 Northwestern College was outscored 11-6 in the second overtime as they lost to Hastings 90-85 (2OT) in a conference match-up played today in Hastings, Neb.
The Red Raiders dropped back-to-back games for the first time this season and fall to 9-3 in the GPAC, 19-4 overall. Hastings improved to 6-5 in conference play, 12-11 overall.
Colton Kooima poured in a game-high 32 points and Nathan Wedel tallied his second double-double of the season with 16 points and 10 rebounds. Both Justin Van Kalsbeek and Derek Buysse added 11 points each and Riley Francis scored 10, giving Northwestern five players in double figures.

Northwestern began the game with an 18-2 run, getting eight points from Kooima and six from Wedel, after five minutes of play
Hastings came back and was within 13 (27-14) at the 9:48 mark and then went on a 17-3 run to take its first lead, 31-30, with 5:40 left in the first half
The teams traded baskets over the final minutes and Hastings led by two, 38-36, at the break
The lead switched hands five times in a back and forth second half; with Northwestern up five (70-65) after a three-pointer by Kooima, Hastings scored the final five points of regulation over the final minute to send the game into overtime, 70-70.
Both teams held two-point leads in the first overtime; with Hastings in front 79-77 after a jumper by Trey Moore with 29 seconds left, Van Kalsbeek scored on a put-back after a Kooima missed three-pointer with two seconds left to send the game into the second overtime
A basket by Kooima gave Northwestern its last lead, 85-84, with 1:08 left in the second overtime; Bart Hiscock knocked down his only three-point of the game on the ensuing possession and Northwestern missed its final five shot attempts to clinch the win for Hastings.
