Red Raiders Travel To Mount Marty For Wednesday Match-up

Game Time...Northwestern College travels to Yankton, S.D. to play Mount Marty in its only conference match-up for the week. Tip-off on Wednesday night is scheduled for 8pm. At the midway point of the conference schedule, Northwestern sports an 8-1 record, 18-2 overall. Mount Marty is 0-8 in the GPAC, 4-13 overall.

All-Time...Northwestern is 51-16 all-time against the Lancers dating back to the 1977-78 season. They are 9-1 over the last 10 games against Mount Marty.

Mount Marty Lancers: 0-8 (GPAC), 4-13 overall Head Coach-Andrew Baker (4th year)

Since earning their fourth win of the season on Dec. 30, a 111-91 victory over West Coast Baptist, the Lancers have lost two straight GPAC games on the road to Hastings (87-75) and Dordt (81-79). They are 0-8 in conference play, 4-13 overall heading into the match-up against NWC.

Andrew Baker, in his fourth season as the Lancers' head coach and seventh overall season as a coach within the program, returns two starters and eight players from a 2015-16 team that finished with a 0-20 GPAC record, 1-28 overall. 

Mount Marty is 10th in the GPAC in both scoring offense (78ppg) and scoring defense (92ppg). They are eighth in the NAIA in three-point shooting, making nearly 11 per game.

Ranked fourth in the latest NAIA D-II coaches' poll, Northwestern is currently in first place in the GPAC with an 8-1 record at the midway point of the conference schedule. They are 18-2 overall and have matched their third best start in program history.

Northwestern ranks fourth in the NAIA in scoring (92.3ppg) and are sixth in the NAIA in field goal percentage (51%)

The Red Raiders are second in the NAIA in rebounding, holding a +13 margin over opponents

Colton Kooima has scored in double figures 17 times this season and leads the GPAC in scoring at 24ppg; Kooima ranks 20th all-time in career scoring with 1,394pts, one shy of Jeff Kraayenbrink for 19th place

Derek Buysse scores 13 points per game and has netted double figures in 13 games; Buysse has made a 3pter in all but one game this season

Nathan Wedel averages 12.9ppg and leads the team with 74 assists; Wedel, who just eclipsed the 1,000-point milestone, ranks 22nd all-time with 261 career assists; Wedel has scored in double figures in 13 games this season

Riley Francis averages 11ppg and ranks fourth in the GPAC in three-point percentage (48%)

Jordan Baker averages 9.2ppg and 6.3rpg; Baker ranks 24th all-time in career scoring (1,306) and T7th all-time in career rebounding (807)
