Box Score Northwestern College played the Buena Vista University Wednesday evening. The Raiders never trailed in this one, but BVU forced the game to 2OT. It did not take long in the second overtime for the Raiders, Sarah Homan, to find the back of the net for the win. Northwestern now improves to 4-4 on the season. Â
The Raiders got a goal ten minutes into the match from Jahdai Dunk assisted byJennifer Inge.
They were not done scoring in the first half when Madeline Swift was able to send a drive into the net, assisted by a nice pass from Jessica Carver, and was able to beat the keeper to push the score to 2-0.
BVU did answer back late in the first half getting a goal of their own from Samantha Arnold.
The game went to half with the Raiders holding a 2-1 lead.
15 minutes into the second half the Beavers found an equalizer from Caroline Maher to knot the score at 2-2.Â
It looked as if Northwestern had the game in hand when BVU was called for a hand ball in the box, which led to a penalty kick goal by Alissa Christoffer which she buried into the side of the net with less than 15 minutes remaining.
BVU again found an answer with only five minutes showing on the clock Arnold got credit for her second goal of the night to bring the score to 3-3.
Both teams in the first overtime tightened up the defensive efforts and kept the score at 3-3.
Not even one minute into the second overtime period Sarah Homan got loose and picked up her first goal of the evening to finish the game for the Raiders.
