Northwestern Drops Season Opener

Box Score Northwestern College played their season opener at No. 19 Viterbo University. The 2016 season starts with a loss by a 4-2 score against Viterbo V-Hawks on Wednesday evening.

The game did not get off a positive note for Northwestern as Viterbo's Sienna Fraser got the V-Hawks on the board in the 26th minute. Northwestern kept the score at 1-0 heading into halftime.

Just a few minutes into the second half Viterbo's Erika Schultz put the V-Hawks up 2-0 with a deep shot from 35 yards out.

The Raiders came on strong after the slow start and scored twice within seven minutes to tie things up.  Sarah Homan was able to get the Raiders on the board and minutes later Alissa Christoffer scored off a corner kick to tie that game at 2-2.

Unfortunately for the Raiders in the 72nd minute, Viterbo's Macey Kalscheur picked up the go ahead goal.

The V-Hawks also added an insurance goal late in play on a penalty kick to make the final score 4-2.
