Box Score Northwestern College played their season opener at No. 19 Viterbo University. The 2016 season starts with a loss by a 4-2 score against Viterbo V-Hawks on Wednesday evening.
The game did not get off a positive note for Northwestern as Viterbo's Sienna Fraser got the V-Hawks on the board in the 26th minute. Northwestern kept the score at 1-0 heading into halftime.Â
Just a few minutes into the second half Viterbo's Erika Schultz put the V-Hawks up 2-0 with a deep shot from 35 yards out.
The Raiders came on strong after the slow start and scored twice within seven minutes to tie things up. Â
Sarah Homan was able to get the Raiders on the board and minutes later
Alissa Christoffer scored off a corner kick to tie that game at 2-2.
Unfortunately for the Raiders in the 72nd minute, Viterbo's Macey Kalscheur picked up the go ahead goal.
The V-Hawks also added an insurance goal late in play on a penalty kick to make the final score 4-2.
