Red Raiders' Season Resumes at Dordt Classic

Game Time...Northwestern College resumes its season this weekend at the Dordt Classic. The Red Raiders will play No.15 Friends University at 2pm on Friday, Dec. 30, and will then play Viterbo at 11am on Saturday, Dec. 31.

All-Time...Northwestern is 4-0 all-time against Viterbo, last playing the V-Hawks during the 2012-13 season. This will be the first ever match-up against Friends.

  No. 15 Friends University Falcons: 8-0, 11-2  Head Coach: RaeAnne Boothe (7th year)

The Falcons have won 11 straight games after opening the season with consecutive losses to a pair of ranked GPAC teams, Hastings and Concordia. They are unbeaten in KCAC play (8-0) and bring an 11-2 record into the weekend. Among their 11 wins, two are against ranked teams; (RV) Doane and #20 Tabor.

Coach Boothe is in her seventh season and has guided the Falcons to five straight 21+-win seasons and to the NAIA D-II National Championship four of the last five years. She is 131-61 all-time and returns two starters and eight players from last year's squad that finished second in the KCAC with a 15-5 record, 22-11 overall. They lost to Ozarks in the first round of the championship.

 Viterbo University V-Hawks: 1-4, 2-14  Head Coach: Bobbi Vandenberg (24th year)

Members of the North Star Athletic Conference, the V-Hawks are 2-14 overall this season. They have lost five straight games since defeating Waldorf (63-51) on Dec. 3. Viterbo has lost to Jamestown, Wartburg, Valley City State, Dakota State and St. Ambrose since. The V-Hawks other win is an 82-75 win over Buena Vista on Nov. 18.

Vandenberg has over 300 wins, now in her 24th season as the V-Hawks head coach. Last year, she guided Viterbo to a 6-23 overall record and a seventh place finish in the NSAA.
